The Rise of the Mobile Worker

I know I’m not alone when I say sitting at a desk for 8 hours straight, staring at a computer screen can be droning.

Well, good thing those days are over.

Thanks to new technology and changing views in the workplace, we have proven to be just as productive on our mobile devices. In fact, people are actually getting more done now that mobile has been accepted into the work environment.

Mobility in the workplace is a trend that is quickly escalating into a work style, allowing people to stay connected all the time in order to increase productivity.

Laptops, tablets, and smartphones have revolutionized the way we work, giving us the ability to check email on our phones, schedule meetings, access websites, take notes and communicate with clients while away from our desks.

According to a study by Cisco, 3 in 5 workers say they are just as productive doing work from a mobile device, and comScore found that more people accessed email on their phones than through web-based email platforms between November 2009 and November 2010. Many IT departments are even providing employees with tablets and smartphones to increase productivity outside of the workplace.

The infographic below by Gist heightens these facts and shows how mobility is improving the way we work.
